We Don't Need Another Hipocrital Environmentalist

Being selfish means to be devoted to or caring only for oneself. Many environmentalists portray that they are selfless, but in reality are very selfish. Everyone is selfish, and that is one of the main reasons humans will never overcome our environmental destruction.

Bono from U2 is just an example of an environmentalist who does many fundraisers and public events to raise awareness of climate change. He goes around the world in his private jet, plays big concert with lots of fancy lights and stage effects, and then returns home to his huge mansion. Bono may be doing a lot by helping the world, but at the same time he is destroying it.

This rock star is not the only example of an environmentalist who does not take his own advice, there are many other. Unfortunately, everyone wants the best things and want to live in luxury. Most people aren't willing to pay extra money or take the extra time to help save our planet. The sales of hybrid cars aren't even close to those of other newer cars. This shows people want faster, fancier items.

The video We Don't Need Another Bono proves the point I am trying to make. Environmental activists can say all they want, but at the end of the day everyone is selfish and unfortunately, not many people are willing to make the sacrifices needed to save our planet.

Every year on June 5, the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) hosts concerts worldwide to raise awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action. It is a great thing they are doing, but putting on these amazing shows is not very echo-friendly event.
